Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) is an attachment-focused psychotherapy intervention that is built on attachment science developed by Dr. Sue Johnson. EFIT uses attachment theory to help you to achieve secure attachment in your life by helping you to develop a greater awareness of the attachment behaviours you are demonstrating and how these behaviours affect your relationships. Exploring your current attachment style can also offer you the opportunity to become aware of your own experiences and interpretations. By looking at your attachment history, you can work towards healing injuries from your past.
During an individual psychotherapy session, you can expect to discuss the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that are causing you distress. You and your therapist will work together to identify the issues that you would like to address in therapy.
